I have been to a few cosmetic parties hosted by Motives‘ beauty advisors 🙂 I think cosmetics parties like these are extremely fun, informative and refreshing 🙂 Every girl NEEDS to go at least once in her life! Here’s my little adventure at the cosmetic parties.
——————————January 19, 2014——————————
My big brother drove all the way from Toronto to Hamilton to pick me and my friends up from our place. I remember it was the day after he got his car too! 😛 Two of the friends I invited along were Uyen and Souhaa. I know they love beauty and skincare so why not spend some girly time with them? 😉
Arriving at the party, we were all-over-the-moon excited because there were plenty of makeup products and skincare goodies to play with!!!
Janice and Jean were the beauty consultants. They made Custom Blend Foundations for each customer according to the client’s skin tone, skin type and preferences. I was so impressed by how professional they were 🙂
They also did a little trick where they told me to squeeze out a bit of my all-time-favourite BB cream, Maybeline Dream Fresh, into a little cup of water. Then they try to mix it but the product didn’t dissolve but sunk to the bottom of the cup. Oh My Goodness. It looked disgusting 😦 The BB cream contained so much metal, hence, it was insoluble in water. I was horrified because I had been using that every single day. It had been clogging my pores and clung onto my skin even after I washed my face 😦
Ladies, when you buy a foundation/BB cream/CC cream, make sure to check if it’s soluble in water, otherwise, it will seriously give you breakouts and allergies!
I learnt so much from the advisors and got a chance to play around with different products. I met my dear friend, Karen (http://www.stenoodie.com) for the very first time! And we were exchanging beauty tips and ideas. I also gave her a makeover, a natural, sweet and elegant look using Motives’ My Beauty Weapon Palette.
The highlighted colours are used to create Karen’s natural look:
Red Box – is the colour “fab“, apply this white shadow all over the lid, focusing on the inner conner
Blue Box – is the colour “venus“, apply this shimmery pink shadow on the centre of the eyes
Green Box – is the colour “chocolate“, apply this matte taupe shadow on the outer of the eyes
–> Blend them out with a blending brush
Finally, apply winged liners on the eyes using a gel eyeliner
Voilaaaa 😀 We both were very satisfied at the result because the makeup didn’t take away Karen’s beauty but enhanced it. The lighting didn’t do its justice though 😦
Last but not least, I’d love to share the makeup look I wore at the party, using Motives cosmetic products 😛 It’s a light look with neutral eyes and pale pink lips. Even though I love my dramatic and bright eye-shadows, I will wear this look again for sure 😛
I had such a blast and I was grateful that God gave me a chance to be in this business 🙂

And here are the highlights of my day:
– I spent quality time with my friends
– I met new people and connected with them through beauty
– I learnt more about what qualities a good BB Cream/Foundation should have
– I got a chance to give my friends a makeover! 🙂
Now what can a girl ask for more? 😀
Love you for reading my blog! Tune in next time for Part 2 where I share my experience as a professional makeup artist 😉
Carolyn.
Such a natural blogger, Carol! I absolutely love your writing and your blogging style. Thanks for the great pictures!! I can’t wait to read part 2!! I’m glad that you learned so much too and spend quality time with friends. ❤
Thanks Karen! 😀 Blogging is truly a fun activity to have! Not only does it improve my writing skills, but it also helps me connect with other people in a deeper level. I’m very glad I started my blogging journey with you. When I feel unmotivated, at least I know there’s someone who will not give up on me :’) xoxo
You’re welcome! Hehe, I totally agree. Blogging is so fun ^_^
